Surfaces from Craig Gaspar: The one thing that stood out at Surfaces to me was the sea of sameness. You simply could not walk by a booth without seeing some format of LVT, WPC, SPC or Rigid Core product. After a while it literally all started to look the same. Whether it was a mosaic manufacturer or a cork company, EVERYONE was selling it!

As the Holiday Season is upon us and business is a little slower I began asking myself, “What can I do to help retailers increase their sales this year?” I started brainstorming and looking at the market place. Some things are beyond our control like a decline in foot traffic during the holidays or the city closing the road in front of your store. While doing my research, I came across some good tips for slow days and retail sales slumps with a little help from Matthew Hudson.

Each year, a number of businesses see an increase in growth while others seem to lag behind. Have you ever wondered what makes one store succeed while another fails? A lot of it has to do with the customer experience created by the store. It is important to make sure the customer feels welcomed, assisted and appreciated every time they enter and leave that store. DuraCeramic is one of Congoleum’s top selling flooring products. For 9 years running, Consumer Reports has consistently ranked DuraCeramic as the top rated product in the flooring category, and this year is no exception. The July 2017 issue lists DuraCeramic as its top pick with an overall rating of 94, which is significantly higher that the ratings of its main competitors, Alterna and Audra. So why is there so much negative press surrounding this product? The looks and the name (ceramic) would tend to lead a customer to believe it’s a lot like ceramic tile. However, that’s where the similarity ends. Let’s first start with what DuraCeramic consists of. It’s made with a limestone composite base and fortified with a polymer resin finish. Polymer resin is a clear liquid plastic product that hardens to create a thick, durable, coating. Once hardened, it is fade-proof and water-resistant.

"Retail is in the detail." This is a quote I came across a while back and it's especially true in today's competitive market. At some point in the sales process we have all been challenged with the online retail objection. How did you handle that objection? (VAFU01) Here are some examples of things I see from brick and mortar stores beating online retail:
